About Ron Williamson

Ron ran his first OCR race in 2014 and has been hooked ever since. He is a former track and Cross-Country athlete but he had stopped running after college. Obstacle racing reignited his passion for running and for pushing his limits. He is now on a path to reclaim his fitness and to overcome every obstacle that stands in his way.

Spartan Race recently announced a new addition to their race line up. Rather than going the typical route of making things longer or harder they decided to try something different: Stripping all of the obstacles. On October 13th, 2019 Spartan Race kicked off its inaugural Trail Race in Arlington, Virginia. No tricks or gimmicks, this race was exactly what they said it would be, which was a Spartan Trail Race

Spartan Race – Virginia Super

The 2018 Virginia Spartan Super kicked off on a damp and chilly morning. Recent storms had brought in a powerful cold front and substantial rain. Many Spartans were bundled up in coats, hats an gloves leading up to the start of their waves. While it did warm up as the day progressed, daytime temperatures only hovered in the mid-50s. The overcast skies and the cool, damp air was a textbook Fall Virginia morning.

Rugged Maniac returned to the DC area for the first time in several years.  The race took place at the popular Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, MD. This venue has hosted a fair number of OCR races, so it was interesting to see how Rugged Maniac was going to make the event unique.

Bonefrog has expanded their race lineup once again. On 4/29/18 they hosted a brand new race in Virginia Beach, VA. The race took place at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, a large facility dedicated to various sports events. Equipped with massive open grass fields, field hockey pitches, and even an athletic field with stadium seating this venue is well suited to handle any sporting event and it did not disappoint.

The end of race season is bound to be a difficult time for most racers. We have had a blast jumping over walls, running up and down mountains, and wading through the mud. When your season is over it can leave you suffering from OCR withdrawal symptoms.
