By |November 30th, 2018|

It is really tough to follow a Spartan Kids World Championship and the first ever Elite Para Heat, but there was a race day on Sunday with thousands of people taking on the Super course. This was one of the few weekends where Spartan flipped the distances and ran the Sprint on Saturday and the Super on Sunday...

Race Recap: Warrior Dash Colorado 2018

By |September 19th, 2018|

The weather has been unseasonably warm in Colorado during the month of September and that set things up for a beautiful day for Warrior Dash. Even the competitive wave that set off at 8 am was greeted by temperatures in the mid-70s and anyone who ran between 12-2 had to deal with temperatures reaching almost 90. This made all the water obstacles and the mud pit at the end feel so much better.

Addressing the Stigma of Injury

By |September 11th, 2018|

The 2018 OCR season has been a real eye-opener for me. I’ve already dealt with a medial DNF, earned a nice broken foot and, as I type this, sit here with all kinds of patterns of kinesiology tape on my back, applied by a chiropractor at a licensed PT facility. As I age, I find I’m more susceptible to injury, and those recovery times seem to lengthen after every birthday.

Race Recap: Spartan Breckenridge Beast 2018

By |August 22nd, 2018|

Colorado is known for its 300 plus days of sunshine a year but also for weather that can change very quickly. The Breckenridge Beast started like any other mountain morning with a cool breeze and fresh air. The race director let us all know they were tracking a storm that could roll in around 9:30 and what the procedures would be if there was lightning within 6 miles of the course.

Race Recap: Spartan 2018 Sprint Fort Carson

By |May 10th, 2018|

The most recent stop in the Spartan Honor Series presented by USAA was at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While most Spartans were watching Robert Killian and Samantha Wood crush the course and take the Elite podiums, Operation Enduring Warrior and Team OscarMike were preparing for the culmination of their weekend.

Badass Women of OCR – Jessika Poppe

By |March 28th, 2018|

In life, often we feel that things should go in one direction, but a life event opens our eyes and leads us along a new path.  In Jessika Poppe's case, this was very true. Initially, she wanted to be a nurse, but after the loss of her Grandparents she realized instead of treating the sick, she wanted to help people live healthy and happy lives.

Savage Race, Ohio – Race Recap

By |June 20th, 2016|

Mad River Mountain: Zanesville OH was the sight for this year’s Savage Race Ohio.  The event has been held at this location for some years, and the success of the Savage series would not disappoint.A hot morning brought the competitors to the Mad River Mountain ski facility in Zanesfield, OH (a short distance Northwest of Columbus).  Serene farmlands entailed the drive up to the location in the rural area; with its unassuming lack of hills?  Rounding the last turn unveiled where they were hiding, and Savage Race found them.
